GENOME INFORMATION
BBG will shortly add to the reliability of its bull selection by including genome information.
Research is currently being undertaken to try to identify the elements responsible for the main characteristics observed and components of the indices.
In a few months’ time, the reliability of the indices on the pedigree of the bulls selected will be improved and will enable the pressure on the selection of bulls tested by progeny in crossbreeding to be increased. Pending the production of indices by progeny, the genome indices will provide greater security with respect to the “advance” use of such bulls.
POLLED :
BBG has developed a selection programme for the production of bulls without horns. This long-term work should begin to show results in 2018.
