THE BULLS AVAILABLE FROM BBG :

Given the increasing attractiveness of the Belgian Blue for crossbreeding to farmers across the world, the volume of doses exported has increased significantly in recent years, as has the number of bulls used. Consequently, it is impossible for BBG to test all its bulls on Holstein and so offers 3 categories of bulls: tested bulls, bulls with testing in progress and recommended bulls.

Around 35 white bulls are tested annually by progeny on crossbreeding with Holstein in Belgium and the Netherlands. This provides inter alia information for the indices: ease of calving and birth weight.

Some of the bulls are undergoing testing. This category will benefit in the future from the genome indices which enable their use to be brought forward with greater reliability

BBG also offers recommended bulls:
These are bulls tested only in pure bred with indices on: birth weight, length of gestation and conformation at birth. These bulls have established pedigrees and are therefore in the category: recommended bull.
